Hurricane Helene

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

As all of you are aware, North Carolina was hit with record-setting rains from Hurricane Helene this past weekend.  Strong winds and flooding occurred, both in our mountain and foothill regions, causing incredible devastation.  Many communities are cut off from the outside world, with no power, communications, or roads in or out.  Evacuations are continuing in areas downstream from the areas initially affected.

It will be some time before we know the total damage from this storm, and the losses will be felt for years to come.   Right now, the needs of our neighbors are very basic and immediate:  food, water, cleaning supplies, diapers, etc.   We can all help by collecting supplies in our chapters and donating them to local relief organizations.

Please, my Sisters and Brothers, look after each other in any way you can, remember our neighbors in need, and keep all of Western North Carolina in your thoughts and prayers.
